"...The more I listen to her, the more I think she makes some quite salient points, that she simply says what she sees. Even the assertions in her book about her great beauty cease to seem arrogant – more of a statement of fact. She is a diamond-encrusted battleaxe." --The Daily Telegraph UK
"Collins writes with great humour, hitting targets both big and small." --The Daily Telegraph Australia
"Actress Joan Collins has followed in the footsteps of sister Jackie by writing a blockbuster." The Daily Mirror UK
The World According to Joan eBook Joan Collins
The woman knows what she is talking about. I'm a lot younger than Ms. Collins, but even I have seen the world change drastically over the years. It is shameful the way things have changed. It is a wonder that the world has survived as long as it has. Where have all the gentlemen gone? Where has etiquette gone to? Children have no manners or sense of decorum, but looking at their parents before them it is no surprise. The old adage of children should be seen and not heard is true and should apply now, especially since some many children need a swift kick to the rear. Of course, it isn't the child that is too blame, but the parents. People certainly don't have a clue as to how to dress anymore either.Having the fortune of actually meeting Ms. Collins and talking with her at a couple of parties over the years, I couldn't wait to read this book. She's witty and intelligent and isn't afraid to speak her mind, as evidenced by this book. Fortunately, she doesn't go on about what ails her, as so many mature persons tend to do at her age. Unfortunately, she does go a bit too far on some things, but that is her choice. Don't like what she has to say? Don't listen or don't read it. Contrary to what she seems to believe, not every person out there that winds up in a wheelchair or walker didn't take care of themselves, and to say they do is just ignorant. Other than that, if you are a fan of Ms. Collins, you'll enjoy the book. If you don't like blatant honesty, you might want to skip this book.
Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending this book to others. Attention: American readers: this book is a compilation of columns she wrote for British newspapers and is aimed at the British audience in British English. It was also published in England.

The World According to Joan eBook Joan Collins Reviews
I have enjoyed her other books. But this is just one long, continuous complaint about everyone and everything. She never took a breath. Well, not quite true. If she wasn't complaining about something, she was speaking about the wonderful life in St.Tropez. I was trying to figure out why she wrote this book, when I realized, she must just have needed some money. I am really sorry I even bothered. Maybe I can save you the wasted $9.99.
Easy read and enjoyable. Joan Collins is a sharp gal. Would recommend for young ladies to read. Good advice for not sleeping with every guy they date and to have self respect.
Huge fan of the author and the book.
It was ok. Wish I had my money back though.
Couldn't put it down! Sharp biting wit, intelligent observations on all kinds of topics. Funny, witty and well worth getting. I really enjoyed her little snippets about famous names like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor and other people she has known over the years.
Her comments on manners, compassion for others as well as common sense concerns about such things as flying and traveling safely nowadays are not at all politically correct or censored in any way, and in my opinion completely true.
This is a keeper from someone with a biting wit and the ability to tell it as she sees it, no self censorship or pc babble allowed.
I particularly enjoyed her comments on skin care and weight although she is very blunt particularly when it comes to weight which is actually helpful if you want to lose it and keep it off like people used to be able to do in the fifties. This is not sugar coated, and it may offend modern sensibilities. She doesn't see weight as a disability but as an end result in changes in the food supply along with changing attitudes to portion sizes. Couple that with bad dietary advice based on bad science promulgated by the likes of Ancel Keyes and you have a whole planet of people attempting to eat healthy and gaining weight, acquiring Type 2 diabetes and worse. Gary Taubes has written plenty on this subject if this idea is new to you but Joan's observations line up with the research done in the last few decades.
She hit the nail on the head when talking about pregnancy;. She tells what a dietician told her to eat for a healthy pregnancy, and it mirrors what I was told. Whole grains up the wazoo, never mind the effect all those "healthy" carbs have on blood sugar, fat storage and so forth. Unlike her, I did what the dieticians of that era said, and gained over 60 lbs while eating as ordered. Needless to say I didn't lose all of it, and the next baby added on. I wish I'd had her common sense and courage to stick to her own usual food intake plus some vitamins and call it a day.
I did not find her harsh on people with disabilities, as another review stated. She is big on personal responsibility for your own choices such as food, but she saves her real wrath for able bodied people who refuse to give up a seat on the bus for pregnant women or the elderly or infirm. She blasts those who ignore people who need help, and those whose selfishness puts others around them at risk.
Some sharp and pithy observations on reality TV and it's effect on children and society at large round things out.
Love the book.
